Jessie Ware – Say You Love Me (Shura Remix)

Electric Women is reporting back from a short (work-related) break with an incredibly intimate remix by Shura. The London-based producer and singer does some rearranging and tweaking on ‘Say You Love Me’ by Britain’s electro-soul darling Jessie Ware.

The result is this four minute beauty, which is dominated by a moan-like synth line and slowly progresses from having a soothing quality towards an upbeat and uplifting ending. It leaves one with the simple directive, expressed by a masculine-sounding distorted voice, to ‘Fall in Love’ – thereby excitingly contrasting Jessie Ware’s repeated statement: ‘I don’t wanna fall in love’.

Berlin Festival’s Electric Women

As the Berlin Festival starts this evening, I wanted to take the opportunity to present most of the women of the weekend’s lineup with a small playlist. Below you can also find the featured artists with their respective stage and time.

One can only hope that the festival won’t be as disastrous as its organization has been in the last weeks and months. From changing the venue a few weeks before the festival, to mixing up the timetable and their failure to deliver a better line-up despite all their announcements – it feels like the festival has become a complete farce.

Nevertheless I will enjoy this weekend completely dedicated to electronic music and try to see as many of the women as possible. Even with the likes of Moderat, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie and Mount Kimbie performing as well.

Disclosure ft. Jessie Ware – Confess to Me (Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo RMX)

This extract from one of Hannah Wants sets that has been released in may brings together two great women of the contemporary electronic music scene. At first Hannah Wants herself. She is one of UK’s leading deep / bass house DJs hailing from Birmingham and has been around for a few years already. It is her who remixed this already modern classic from Disclosure’s album ‘Settle’, together with her congenial partner in production Chris Lorenzo.

The genre-bending singer-songwriter Jessie Ware is the second women involved in ‘Confess to me’. She is the original collaborator of Disclosure on this fabulous tune and provides the powerful vocals. Jessie was born and raised in London and is already on the verge of releasing her second full album in October of this year.

This ingenious combination of four incredibly talented artists into one powerful club-tune is definitely a keeper, that shouldn’t be missed on anyone’s house-playlist.
