After featuring Music Junkies a while ago, Adi Ulmanksy, who will play at the Berlin Festival tomorrow, is the next upcoming act from Tel-Aviv’s club scene. On her songs the very versatile Adi fulfills the roles of producer, singer as well as rapper. After releasing her first Mixtape ‘Shit just got real’ in early 2013 and the ‘Hurricane Girl’ EP later that year, she has become one of Israel’s most internationally acclaimed electronic artists.
‘Save me from myself’ came into being during her recent stay in London and originated from a deep feeling of melancholy. The soulful vocals, together with her almost avant-garde beats, create a deep and warm atmosphere. I don’t mind Adi being lonely again every once in a while if this is what she makes of it.
Genre: Futurebeats / Nu’ Soul

After dropping the incredibly great ‘Realla’ a few weeks ago, ‘Steal my Attention’ is the next song from TOKiMONSTA’s upcoming mini-album ‘Desiderium‘ that got released via her Soundcloud. Desiderium is bound to be released in the end of September and ‘Steal my attention’ surely sweetens the wait until then.
In the wake of all the attention for TOKi, I’ve revisited her debut album Midnight Menu, as well as the Creature Dreams EP, and was astonished because I forgot how developed she already sounded. And although her newest tracks and the old ones could both be categorized under the umbrella term future-beats, there’s a very distinct difference between TOKi today and from back then. The reason could be something, that she stresses in her interviews. That, as a producer, you should not try to copy someone else, but find your own sound. Maybe she just changed and her sound developed with her. What’s exciting is that TOKi did and still does sound great. I’m looking forward to what comes next with her.

Fei-Fei is a producer and DJ from Los Angeles with roots in the techno and trance scene. She started her musical career as a classical piano player before immersing herself in the EDM scene. After moving to Los Angeles she quickly became one of the cities most prominent DJs and has since continued to put in top-notch performances, as well as put out fabulous tracks and remixes she produced herself.
‘Little White Lies’ is Fei-Fei’s newest tune. It is a testament to her recent change in sound, deviating from the ravey techno and hard trance music she produced before. Fei-Fei’s stylish tracks today are strongly influenced by the acoustics of the future-garage genre, with prominent synthesizers and an overall more soulful sound.

Today, being a very quiet Saturday for me, I seem to be haunted by songs from the past as I stumbled across this little gem from Flying Lotus. In ‘Table Tennis’, where he cooperates with songstress Laura Darlington, he incorporates sounds of a table-tennis game and the life-support machines of his mother to create a daunting and melancholic atmosphere.
This is only amplified by the soft and toned down voice of Laura Darlington over the unique beat. Laura has already worked together with FlyLo after this. Among other tracks, she provided the vocals for ‘Phantasm’ from his album ‘Until the Quiet comes’. She is also one half of Ninja Tune artist The Long Lost, along with her husband Daedelus.

It was about time I finally shared this wonderful track. I’m not sure whether it is a good thing, that I planned to post this almost 3 weeks ago when I found it on Thump, but never got around to actually doing it. At first it might look like the track wasn’t too good to begin with, otherwise I’d have posted it immediately. But on the other hand, I always keep coming back to it and my love for it is growing every time. By now it has become one of my favorite tunes of the last months.
Susie Suh is a Korean-American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, that usually produces introspective folk music. ‘Here with me’, which she wrote and produced together with Robot Koch from Berlin, is in its original version a very mellow and soothing tune. The remix by Bearson doesn’t lose any of it’s original qualities but adds a tropical house feel that makes this a superb feel-good song to listen to, not only on relaxed summer evenings.

Hailing from Vancouver, ill-esha is one of the most important figures of the glitch hop scene. Being one of the co-founders of ‘Glitch Hop Forum’, she has become well known for her DJ performances, where she not only DJs but also provides live-vocals at the same time.
Ill-esha also already had successful Drum & Bass and Dubstep releases and this remix of ‘Crossroads’ by US-American producer Buku takes her into yet another direction, that of trap music. I plain love the combination of ill-eshas delicate vocals and the relatively hard beats. This really deserves some love.

It already means exciting times, when TOKiMONSTA is about to release a new (mini-)album in the coming months. Nonetheless, she still managed to exceed my expectations. ‘Realla’, that features some beautifully soulful R&B vocals by Anderson Paak, totally blew my mind.
TOKi’s production together with Anderson’s vocals make this tune something uniquely enjoyable. It just oozes sexiness through all of its chords and verses. TOKi is definitely among my favorite female producers right now, aiming for the top spot with this sublime tune.
TOKiMONSTA was already featured briefly on Electric Women and with her upcoming album ‘Desiderium’ that is bound to be released on the 23rd of September, it can be said with some certainty, that this won’t be the last we’ve seen (and heard!) of her here.
