Olivier & Robyn Florence – Fever

Olivier is a young 16-year-old producer from the Netherlands. For his first single ‘Fever’, he teamed up with the wonderful Robyn Florence. It was released in the end of August and all profits that are eventually generated will be donated to the Dutch ALS foundation.

Lyrically, it is a song about sexual self determination and unwanted advances in public spaces. In particular about the tragically common phenomenon of people not being able to read other’s emotions (or not minding them) and subsequently making unrequited and unwanted approaches.

While Olivier wrote and produced the track, Robyn, who first met Olivier in school, had a great influence on the creative direction and co-wrote the lyrics in addition to providing the vocals. As yet she was primarily covering songs and putting them up on YouTube or Soundcloud. So this is a new step for both of them. And a great one at that, as the surprisingly mature sounding ‘Fever’ is an early testament of their promising talent.

Unfortunately, the full song is not out there on SoundCloud, so here’s a link to a 60 second preview on SC, for those that don’t use Spotify.

Kito & Reija Lee – Starting Line

Being friends since they were thirteen it seems only natural for the two Australians Kito & Reija Lee to work together. Since they started collaborating in 2008 they have combined their respective talents. Kito is responsible for beats and production while Reija provides the enchanting vocals. They have been signed to Diplo’s ‘Mad Decent’ label, and earlier worked together with Skream, which generated a lot of publicity for them. Their first EP ‘Sweet Talk’ was released on Mad Decent in 2012.

‘Starting Line’ is taken from their newest release, the ‘II EP‘. And as they say on this interview for ‘DoAndroidsDance’ it’s a real co-production for the very first time, in that they helped to evolve the song together, deviating from their usual step-by-step process of Kito producing a beat and Reija subsequently writing the lyrics for it.

It’s full of beautiful synths, soaking with memories of the sound of the 80s, combined with the beauty of today’s electro-pop style.

Disclosure ft. Jessie Ware – Confess to Me (Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo RMX)

This extract from one of Hannah Wants sets that has been released in may brings together two great women of the contemporary electronic music scene. At first Hannah Wants herself. She is one of UK’s leading deep / bass house DJs hailing from Birmingham and has been around for a few years already. It is her who remixed this already modern classic from Disclosure’s album ‘Settle’, together with her congenial partner in production Chris Lorenzo.

The genre-bending singer-songwriter Jessie Ware is the second women involved in ‘Confess to me’. She is the original collaborator of Disclosure on this fabulous tune and provides the powerful vocals. Jessie was born and raised in London and is already on the verge of releasing her second full album in October of this year.

This ingenious combination of four incredibly talented artists into one powerful club-tune is definitely a keeper, that shouldn’t be missed on anyone’s house-playlist.
