This contribution to Lamb’s ‘Heaven’ Remix contest by Bremen based electro duo Sushi Girl captures the general mood of the original and brings it to new heights with an added dreaminess and trancelike atmosphere.
Lamb itself is a trip-hop duo from Manchester, consisting of producer Andy Barlow and singer-songwriter Lou Rhodes who make music together since 1996 (with an interruption in between).

Jarreau Vandal just released this remix of Alina Baraz’ beautiful tune ‘Paradise’ that she produced in collaboration with Esta, like Jarreau Vandal signed to the notorious Soulection Label.
Alina herself is a soul singer based in Cleveland that connects the deep vocals of soul with electronic beats, a tempting connection recalling the likes of Bonobo that went exactly the other way around, freely implementing soul samples in their music.
This remix combines the forward moving trap-beat with her breathed but nonetheless strong vocals that are full of desire. Makes for a light-hearted, almost erotic tune. And I’m not even starting to speak about the beat drop at 0:43, just perfectly set. Continue reading Alina Baraz ft. Esta – Paradise (Jarreau Vandal Remix)
Born and raised in colombia, but now living in London Isa GT has become an important asset of London’s DJ scene. She made a name for herself touring with M.I.A. or the GirlCore collective, an all-female international artist group to promote and make visible the existing female talents. Among other things she engaged the topic of lesbianism in ‘Pa las mamasitas‘. She’s also a producer, radio host and a video director.
Leyenda is taken from her second EP of the same name and has a modern distinctly colombian Cumbia sound with a very nice beat to it.

Canada is not only home to a great indie and post-rock scene, but apparently there are loads of talented female electronic musicians around as well. After our feature of Austra in the Electric Women series comes another Toronto-based artist, the 19-ish Annika Zee. She has released only two tracks so far and the more electronic of the two ‘Games’, which is produced by Bridge and Law, ended up as a stylish headbobbing tune with some 80s feel to it due to the amazing synths. And I am already looking forward to the upcoming EP, that is due to this summer.
Furthermore it’s always encouraging to see a conscious dealing with the importance of questions of gender and personality, that apparently have a big influence on her music. Continue reading Annika Zee – Games (prod. Bridge and Law)

Austra is a Canadian band hailing from Toronto, that mainly consists of three people. Katie Stelmanis who is responsible for the vocals, lyrics and keyboards, Maya Postepski on all kinds of drums and Bassist Dorian Wolf. Katie’s sometimes rather cold but always very intense voice (which she trained through a legitimate education as an opera singer) is what dominates the sound of Austra. It often stands in a juxtaposed position to the more upbeat and straight-forward tunes that Maya and Dorian provide and together they create a very intimate soundscape. Continue reading Austra
